WELCOME

Hi, Welcome to the home of the Happy Wordcrafter.  I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope you’ll make yourself at home. You’ll find more details about me and the history of this site on the “About Sandra” page, but for now, here’s all you need to know:

When you clicked on this page, you walked into the writing world of a happy, healthy, notoriously politically INcorrect author. (Just a little fair warning to get you started.)  I’m also one of the world’s great coffee lovers.

But mostly I’m just a girl in love with words, and I’m pretty sure you share that love, or you wouldn’t be here. I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t fascinated by both reading and writing.  In fact I was so enamored of writing that I even taught myself to write in cursive long before I started second grade.

And certainly I was almost never without a book to read — or two — or three at the same time. I still do that: read several books at once. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s a feeling that there are just too many great things to read, and I don’t want to miss out on any of them.

I started writing my own stories when I was in early grammar school, and I wrote my first full-length play in the sixth grade. But what can I say: Mom Writer + Dad Writer = Me Writer — Right?

It’s true. I inherited both the love and the gift for writing from my wonderful parents. Of course, I’m also aware that the Lord is the One who gives us those gifts and talents in the first place, and I am constantly grateful for the privilege of enjoying — and employing — those blessings.

For many years now, I’ve had the honor and the fun of being a newspaper journalist and columnist, an inspirational novelist, a short story writer, an essayist, a poet, a creative writing teacher, and a minister of the Gospel. I hope you’ll let me share with you here about some of my work that is available in the marketplace. I’ll feature specific books and projects from time to time, and I’ve also included a page — “My Books” in the Navigation bar — devoted to giving you brief descriptions of my books and links to the Amazon pages where you can buy them. You’ll also find most of my work if you just visit my Amazon Author’s Page.

A couple years ago, I started dabbling in watercolor and found it so relaxing that I started focusing on painting — and eventually sketching — more and more until I now find myself in the midst of a battle between the writing and the art. So you’ll also notice several posts devoted to artwork, and you’ll find a link to my art website ‘Art by Ahyoka’ in the navigation bar of this site.

Click on the MY BLOG”  link, here or in the menu at the top of the page, to visit my blog posts — and please comment and communicate freely on those posts.  If you’re part of the WordPress family, you should see a “Follow” button in the lower right corner of your page. If you’re not part of the WordPress family but would like to subscribe to this website so you get an e-mail notification when new posts go up, just look up at the top of the right-hand sidebar and hit that “Subscribe” button.

Now, have fun here. And come visit often.

Be blessed.
Sandra
