Darcy
Was his name.
Jane Austen gave him fame.
But to Elizabeth she gave
His heart.

Authors:
We use our pow’r.
To create whom we wish,
Intending to control their lives
And loves.

But wait.
My characters
Sometimes will take control.
They’ll change midstream and force their will
On me.

And so,
At story’s end,
Although I get the praise,
I know the work’s success is due
To them.
