Just couldn’t decide which of these “DISTORTIONS” I liked best, so I posted all three.
Hope they add a little color to someone else’s day as well.

I took the original picture early one morning from my front porch.  I knew it was a gorgeous sight, but I never dreamed I’d have so much fun with it until WordPress challenged me with this week’s word, “Distorted.”

    1. Well, I didn’t have any already distorted photos, and this seemed like a fun idea. One of my jobs is creating book covers and greeting cards, so I’m always fooling around with computer photo programs anyway. Thanks for taking the time to comment on it.

  3. Definitely the roasted marshmallow sky with a cup of cocoa… I mean, after all “falling into the sky with this big mug of Hot Chocolate would likely burn me like the fire in the sky”

    1. Well, this is proof that you are a writer! No other kind of person could put all three of those pictures together and actually create a whole story out of them.

      I had never heard of the song “Falling Into The Sky” until one of my former writing students mentioned it on Facebook a few weeks ago. I thought “How stupid!” About a week later, I was driving with the radio playing, and it came on. I thought, “Okay, now I’ll find out what it’s really about, and maybe it will make sense.” Nope. It really is a totally stupid song! But when I was playing around with this picture in a photo program and flipped it upside down just to see what it looked like, that song instantly popped into my mind. I just couldn’t resist. Thanks for taking the time to comment on them.

    1. Thank you. I almost felt bad doing that to such a beautiful picture, but it is also a lot of fun for me to work with photos and find out just how much can be done with them. Since one of my jobs is creating book covers and greeting cards, I get an opportunity to do a lot of that, and I’ve discovered some very unusual and captivating effects at times. It keeps the creative juices running.

    1. That sounds interesting, but I’m not familiar with work by Magritte. I’ll have to look it up. One of my former writing students had been talking recently about the song that refers to “Falling Into The Sky,” and when I was experimenting with this picture in one of my photo programs, I flipped it upside down just to see what it would look like. It instantly reminded me of that song. Thanks for taking the time to comment and open a door to my learning something new about Magritte.

    1. Thank you. I had never heard the popular song about “falling into the sky,” until a former writing student of mine started talking about it. I thought it sounded ridiculous,and then I heard it on the radio. I still thought it was ridiculous. But when I was working with this shot in my photo program, experimenting with this week’s theme, I flipped the picture upside down just to see what it looked like. The instant I looked at it, that song came back to me, and I knew that had to be the title.

  11. These are pretty amazing shots. I have just recently got into Photography, this week will be my 5th challenge (even though I have yet to do it ! ) and I have used my Phones camera. But last week I got the necessary bits for my Digital camera and really need to set it up and have fun like what you have with distorting images…everything new is scary for me but I am putting the batteries on charge now !! lol!! 🙂

    1. Definitely go for it! When I first started learning how to deal with the computer, the Internet, and my digital camera — all for my work — I decided I couldn’t let fear keep me from doing it. Being well into middle age, the world tells me that I should have a harder time learning a lot of new technological things and becoming really good at using them. But I decided I wasn’t going to believe that either. Since I’m a Christian and I pray about absolutely everything — and really expect God to be involved in all of it — I went to Daniel 1:17, where it says that God supernaturally gave Daniel and his three friends “knowledge, skill in learning, and wisdom.” I said, “Lord, I’m asking you to do the same thing for me. Give me all the knowledge I need to understand this stuff. Give me skill in learning all the new things I need to learn. And give me wisdom to know how to use them the way You want me to.” And He did. I have gone from knowing nothing about computers to owning three of them and using them full-time — as well as a digital camera and four different computer photo programs — in my work. I have learned to create websites and I now run a business online as well. I’m saying all of this just to say, there’s no way you can fail to do all that you want to do with all of this technological equipment as long as you believe you can — and especially if you ask the Lord for His help.   16. I haven’t heard of the song “Falling Into The Sky” either…But, from the title, sounds like the writer’s attempt at either describing their personal desire to defy gravity, or, or they are on some of those “Yellow Submarine” pills.
