“Your instructions were to meet me on this veranda at 5:00 sharp.”
“Sorry, the tour group just left. They’d have seen us.”
“You bring the dough?”
Nodding, handing over an envelope. “It’s way too high, but here. You’d better be as good as you say.”
Black eyes sparked fire.
“Well, I can’t take any chances. You’re sure you can shoot from here and make the kill with just one shot?”
“You just be sure you raise her window and then get out of the way. Or you might get two for the price of one.”
~~~
Good heavens girl, where did this come from? 🙂
I don’t know, Gilly. I think maybe I’ve just been good too long, But, honestly, it’s the first idea that popped into my head. I felt a little bad that I had written it on Valentine’s weekend; I suppose it would have to be called an “un-love story.”
YIKES! Well written, but YIKES! LOL
I had a similar thought when the idea came to me. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
Good story. My first inclination was to run in all directions like the old robot on “Lost in Space,” shouting, “Danger, danger, warning, warning, Will Robinson!”
I still watch the reruns of that show. I always liked it.
Is this Sandra writing this or am I thinking a different story. great short tale that could be many things….
Yes, it’s Sandra. I know it’s a little more sinister that I usually put out, but I’m becoming more ruthless as I get older, Gerry. Look out!!!
🙂
A sinister plot is hatched on the tranquil looking verandah.
It was just too beautiful, peaceful, and perfect to leave it that way. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
Oh I hope it’s not successful.. Truly sinister.
One time you definitely do NOT want two for the price of one. Eek. I just watched John Wick last night which may be why this made me chuckle just a little too.
Not something you would expect in this beautiful surrounding! Well done.
Thank you, Colline. Yes, it is such a beautiful peaceful place. But, for some reason the idea of writing a beautiful, peaceful story to go along with it just made me feel sort of bored.
I hope the guy misses and shoots him! LOL!
Dear Sandra,
This was certainly cheerful. 😉 Thoughts of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre? Good dialogue that carried the plot.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks, Rochelle. It was such a perfect place in the picture I just couldn’t leave well enough alone.
I think every now and then we have to step out of our comfort zones and stretch our creative muscles. You did that well Sandra.
Hey, thanks, Dawn. I remember some time back when I was teaching one of the writing classes and one brand new student — in an in-class writing exercise — killed off one of her main characters. She said, “This is a whole new experience for me. I’ve never killed one of my characters before.” We discussed how it made her feel, and then the guy behind her said, “When I was in college, I wrote a play in which I killed 11 characters.” Then we talked about his experience for a while, and I mentioned that I had never killed off anyone except for a very few really bad guys, and I used a DELTA force to do that so nobody really got their hands dirty. But I went home after that class, and during the next week, I had this urge to kill of a character in a poem I wrote. Once I did that, I seemed to find it fairly easy to dispose of characters. I blamed those two students for being a bad influence on me.
LOL…great story Sandra!
Dear Sandra, If it’s who I think, she’s a mean old witch anyway. She stole her baby sister’s inheritance and kicked her brother out of the house. (Just kidding) Great, story – well done! Love it! Nan 🙂
Finally, someone who is on my main character’s side!
Nasty. I didn’t see it coming. Well done.
Thank you, Margo. I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment.
A great take on the picture. It’s a perfect vantage point for the house opposite, so I’m not surprised yoou want to shoot somebody from it.
Thanks for the hearty chuckle you gave me. The juxtaposition did seem absolutely perfect.
