Dear Diary,
Tonight after play practice, Sheila, Janice, and I drove to Rudy’s Drive-In for burgers and root beers. We’d planned on going inside, but as soon as we drove up, I recognized Jimmy’s car. He was with Roberta!!!
I talked the girls into settling for curb service so that I could scrunch down in the back seat and watch Jimmy’s car. He and Roberta were totally absorbed in each other – laughing, having a great time. When our burgers came, I couldn’t swallow a single bite.

Dear Sandra,
You captured teenage angst beautifully. How many more times will this poor girl’s heart break before the right man comes? Wonderfully told.
Shalom,
Rochelle
It was easy to tell because it’s a true story. I remember the experience vividly to this day. (Of course, names were changed to protect the innocent — and not so innocent as well.) And I am happy to say that several years later, I had reason to be glad that “Roberta” ended up with “Jimmy” instead of me.
Thanks for reading.
I’m glad she did as well, no way was he good enough for you!
Bless you. You’re so sweet. In his defense I should say that we were not “technically” a couple. But all the signs were there, and the “pre-couple” steps had been taken, so I expected us to move into that next level any time. Then, all of a sudden, the rug was pulled out from under me. Aaaahhhh, young love. Where would the world be without it???
This is not what you would want to see… I can imagine that this is the first of many anguished entries…
Awwww..I feel for her. I’ve been that girl!
