John 15:1-2: “I am the true vine.”
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples as He was instructing them for their work in spreading the Gospel of His Kingdom. He wanted them to understand their relationship with Him and their dependency on Him for any fruit bearing. Describing Himself as the “True Vine” is important because one of the definitions of the word “true” is “honest.” So Jesus was telling them, “I am the Honest Vine.”
Jesus is the “Honest Vine.” What does that mean? It means He does not lie. He does not promise something and then fail to produce. We can count on every word He has said being true and coming to pass for us if we will be true and honest in our faith in Him.
And equally important is that we be “honest” branches on that vine. We must not just look like we…
