HAPPY
♥ ♥ ♥
Well, it’s only natural that the topic for this week should be “love.” I decided to offer up one serious piece and one not-so-serious (make that totally irreverent) piece. I’m sure you’ll be able to decide which is which. And you might as well hop over to “A Dash of Sunny” and take part in this week’s challenge.
LOVE RUNS THROUGH ME

Like a stream running through the mountains,
Like a cool wind sweeping o’er the plains,
Like a river rushing to the ocean,
Like blood coursing through the veins,
Like a current running through a cable,
Like a song swirling through the mind,
Like inspiration flowing through the poet,
Like compassion coursing through the kind,
So love for you is running through my soul,
Super-charging me; causing me to grow,
Reminding me that loving makes us whole.
VALEDICTION TO A PASSING LOVE

I have not loved you well,
Nor have I loved you long.
So it is with no strong regret
I sing this parting song.
Your passage through my life
Has barely touched my soul,
So mourning will not weigh me down.
In fact, I feel quite whole.
Adieu, my love, adieu.
I bid you fond goodbye.
And at your grave, for memory’s sake,
A few tears I will cry.

I heard
The word ‘cinquain.’
It popped into my head.
And so I knew I had to write
Cinquain.
My motto is this: If you want to participate in a “Daily Post” prompt, but you have nothing of substance to write — write a cinquain. Now, it isn’t that I don’t feel cinquain can have substance. It’s more the fact that, for some reason (maybe because I like the form so much), I seem to be able to write a cinquain on almost any subject under the sun. In fact, that point makes me want to write one about — what else — the sun.
Sunshine
Poured out on me
Is like a lovely bath:
It cleanses and invigorates
My soul.
Okay. I’m done now. Here’s the link in case you want to have a go at today’s prompt.
If you’d like to join the “Share Your World” fun, you can find the details here at Cee’s site.

Question # 1: Regarding your fridge, is it organized or a mess inside?
Exactly what is the definition of “organized”? If it means that my milk is always on the left side of the top shelf, and my butter is always in the butter compartment, and my cheese is always in the cheese drawer, then it’s organized. However, if it means that all the other things in there are neatly placed in their own specific place — or that there are no left-over containers that have been sitting there for a few weeks, getting pushed farther to the back every day — then I would have to confess to the “mess.”
Question # 2: Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?
I want all my food on the same plate so I can enjoy it all together. That doesn’t mean that I stir it all up together. But I eat some of all of it throughout the meal. To me the flavors of any food are made better by the complimentary flavors of all the accompanying food. I know a few people who eat only one item at a time until it is gone and then start in on the second item. When it is finally gone, they move on to the next and the next. Seems like a boring, miserable way to eat a meal to me. I went to grade school with a girl whose parents insisted that the whole family eat that way. I always felt sorry for her.
Question # 3: Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
Question # 4: Close your eyes. Listen to your body. What part of your body is seeking attention? What is it telling you?
My tummy, my brain, and my palate are all talking at once. They are saying, “Give us some chocolate!!!”
Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from this past week, and what are you looking forward to in the week ahead?
I’m grateful for all the celebrating I got to do for my birthday, and for the load of presents I received.
Next week, I am going to be working hard getting everything in gear for the next Healing School, which begins February 21. It is one of my favorite parts of the ministry the Lord allows me to do, and I’m really looking forward to it, and to seeing many people receive healing from the Lord during those 6 weeks.

This week is the first time I’ve taken part in the “Mindlovesmisery” writing challenges. This week we are to write a story in 100 words or less. The host site offered a picture for inspiration, but I put that aside because the idea I wanted to work with didn’t fit that particular picture. To take part you can visit here.
LAST-MINUTE DECISIONS
The auditorium was full of guests, the organist waiting for her cue. The best man stood at the door, ready to enter as soon as the groom came back inside. He’d just stepped out for some air. Where the heck was he?
Suddenly Carter hurried into the room, passed by his best man, and entered the auditorium. Looking at the guests, he took a deep breath and spoke:
“Sorry folks. Seems my bride eloped with someone else.” He laughed. “She took the car I’d arranged for my own last-minute escape.”

Question # 1: If you lost a bet and had to dye your hair one color of the rainbow for a week, what color would it be?
Definitely Blue.
Question # 2: If you could choose one word to focus on for 2017, what word would it be?
It’s a definite tie between Mercy and Joy. Because the whole world (including myself) desperately needs both.
Question # 3: What was one thing you learned last year that you added to your life?
How to create good book trailers. I wanted to be able to make my own, and I’m still learning how to make them even better.
Question # 4: If life were just a bowl of cherries, which fruit – other than a cherry – would you be?
A Fuji Apple. Fuji apples have a very positive personality: fresh, crisp, juicy, and sweet, with just enough tartness to make life more interesting.
Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the coming week?
I’m very grateful that I finally sold my wrecked Toyota to an auto parts dealer. I had a hard time making that work out after the accident, and I really didn’t want the car smashed into nothing but pieces of metal. Except for the serious problem to the frame and the two doors on the side that was hit, all the other parts of the car were still in quite good condition. I loved that little car, and I really wanted its parts to be used to help make life better for other people who needed affordable car repairs.
This coming week, I’m looking forward to getting a crown on a tooth. It looked for a while as if I might lose that tooth, but my new dentist says he can save it and crown it without costing me a fortune. I thank the Lord for working that out. (Of course, I’m not looking forward to the process itself. But I’m keeping my focus on the finished product.)

WISHIN’

Just sittin’ here wishin’
That I could go fishin’
That way I’d be missin’
Doin’ all this here work.
But iffen’ I was fishin’,
There’d be no commission;
Room and board I’d be missin’;
So this work I can’t shirk.

I’ve shared this particular poem previously. Nevertheless, I’m serving it up again because as soon as I saw today’s prompt from the “Daily Post,” this poem popped into my mind. There’s no way I could write something new today that would fit the theme better than this collection of limerick lines.
ESCAPE
Well, my journey by train has begun.
As for tickets, I don’t have a one.
With police pressing in,
And this shackle ’round my shin,
All I packed was my trusty old gun.
In the baggage compartment I’ll hide,
And my time I will patiently bide.
When we make the next stop,
From this train I will hop
To the next and continue my ride.
It’s a journey to freedom I take.
And I can’t stop; there’s too much at stake.
Since I’m guilty as sin,
In a court, I can’t win,
But I’ve vowed future crime to forsake.

SNOWCHILD
When I was a child, I thought as a child,
And snow was a thing so delightful.
From school we were free; we got wet to the knees,
And our mom’s day was thrown all off schedule.
But now that I’m grown, I must do on my own
All the chores Mom and Dad used to dread:
Stock up food by the loads, drive on slippery roads,
Shovel snow, and repair that old sled.
Now I look with dismay at the skies leaden gray
As I trudge to the store for supplies.
De-icer and salt sell out fast with no halt.
I need new boots to tread on the ice.
The wind from the north is bitter and harsh,
But my temperature, still it is rising;
I am in a foul mood, for I see nothing good
That can come from a snowstorm arriving.
But then the flakes start, and I feel in my heart –
Watching white, fluffy, wonderful, wild
Filling all of my world with such beauty unfurled –
That in truth I am still just a child!

I don’t have snow!!! And I don’t understand. I have the box checked on my settings. I even unchecked it and re-checked it, then saved the settings again — just to make sure. I have snow on my other blogs, but not on my main one — this one. Two of my readers tell me they can see it snowing on this site, but I still can’t see any snow. I even checked the site in a different browser, and that made no difference. Is anyone else out there having trouble seeing your snow?????

Question # 1: What do you value most in a friendship?
The only TRUE friends are those people who continually draw out the highest and the best in me. They value me for the good they see in me — in spite of my flaws — and my interacting with them helps me focus on and grow in what is good. I try to be that same kind of friend to those I care about.
Question # 2: Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or cupcake first? Do you have a favorite flavor?
HECK NO! Who would want to eat just the frosting first? What makes a cake delicious is the combination of cake and frosting together. In fact, I try to eat so that I get some frosting with every single bite of cake. Favorites? I naturally prefer chocolate, but orange and buttercream are close seconds. And I have to admit that as long as it’s smooth and full of sugar, I like any frosting.
Question # 3: Have you ever been in a submarine? If you haven’t, would you want to?
No. And NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! There — that should be clear enough.
Question # 4: If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?
Very few — if any.
I don’t have a perfect life, but I spend most of my time using my God-given abilities and gifts doing things that make other people’s lives better, healthier, and happier. I can’t imagine anything being more satisfying.
