Come Spring

Come, Spring;
Come, gentle Spring,
And beckon us to life again.
We’ve wallowed long in dark and death,
Despairing of a better day.
But once again, with breath awash with sunlight,
You’ve pressed your gentle way into the cold and gloom
And bid us rise to meet you with a smile.

Daily Post Prompt: The Scent of You

woman-looking-up-for-profileThe scent of you:
It calls me from my worried place
And draws me into quiet peace
As your essence gently folds
Around my soul.

The scent of you:
It fills my senses with delight
And stirs the embers of desire
Into a lavish, living fire
That satisfies.

The scent of you:
It causes me to seek to know
My inner self, my deepest soul,
And then to strive to be the best
That I can be.

Daily Post Prompt: Capable — Free Verse

`Exif JPEG
`
I am capable of loving, deeply and profoundly.
I do so at every opportunity.
I am capable of hating,
But I choose not to hate.

I am capable of faith, enough to move a mountain.
I believe in things considered “unbelievable.”
I am capable of doubting,
But I choose not to doubt.

I am capable of courage, in face of mortal danger.
I use it to stand up to all life’s battles.
I am capable of fear,
But I choose not to fear.

I am capable of choosing; it is a priceless gift.
And I take care to use that gift most wisely.

NaPoWriMo – Day 18, Poem # 2 — ‘Liquid Color’

NAPO 2013 BUTTON

This is the 18th day of National Poetry Writing Month, and the prompt today is to write a poem that begins and ends with exactly the same word. If you want to join in the fun there’s still plenty of time. Visit this site:
http://www.napowrimo.net/

I was inspired on this challenge to use free verse, which I rarely use. Moreover, I was inspired to write two separate poems for this particular prompt.  This is my second poem. The first appears in its own post previous to this one.

GREEN SWATCHLIQUID COLOR

Green is a liquid color.
It flows over my soul in a gentle way.
It runs through my feelings like a child at play.
It springs up in me like an April day.
The most liquid of colors is green.

Ear 2ECOUTER

Silence.

Nothing stirs the air.

Nothing breathes.

No vibration oscillates.

No frequency receives or carries movement.

No sensation touches auditory nerves.

There is no deafness;

There simply is no hearing,

Because there is no sound.

There is only

Silence.
