Just a little note to say I’m not being snobbish. Just haven’t been home to be online and visit or comment this past several days. Took a trip to a couple of my favorite places, pictured below. Nashville is one of my old hometowns, and the Smoky Mountains are where I wish I could make my home. The Internet was so unreliable, I gave up on getting online while away. Had a tooth break on the trip, and that resulted in some emergency dental work today, so I’m just not feeling up to sitting at my computer any length of time yet. Tomorrow will definitely be better. I’ll share about my incongruously enjoyable trip — a perfect combination of inspiring conversations and exasperating (but sometimes funny) experiences, all stirred up together.
It’s time for the second week of the new writing challenge: “Tell Me A Story.”
Rules are simple:
1. Tell a story inspired by this photo.
2. Tell it in 50-500 words.
3. Make sure it’s fitting for this “G” rated blog.
4. Be sure to post the link to your story in my “Comments” section below.
5. This week’s challenge will run through Friday, September 27.
I live in a small city that is a little over 100 years old, and I’m glad that several of the business owners have gone to the trouble and expense of refurbishing and restoring so many of our buildings. I love to look down this street on a quiet day and see the windows in the upper level of these buildings.
The picture of the single building with the “Annex” sign was a very busy and popular movie theater in the late 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. It has been re-claimed and turned into a coffee shop with a 1940’s movie theme decor inside.
The second picture shows the other end of that block of buildings, also with restored structures and windows.
Be sure and leave a link to your windows pictures.
Well, I’ve promised a slide show of my Smoky Mountain trip photos, but I don’t have all of them ready yet. But in the meantime, I walked out my front door a couple days ago, and all this beauty just exploded right before my eyes. I had to capture it, and now I’m sharing it with you in a slide show from closer to home.
This is my favorite church window in my home town.
I’m really enjoying all of these great posts. They sort if “open a window” into the lives of the people with whom we share this little section of cyberspace.
Your posts do not have to be of “church” windows. Any window that appeals to you is great. And please feel free to post after Thursday if necessary. Be sure to leave the link to yours in the comment section.
I took this photo while riding with my sister as she took her very first flying lesson. I went along, carrying my camera and two of hers, in order to document the event for posterity. Although flying in large jets does not make me dizzy at all, flying in this tiny three-seater put my head on a merry-go-round. The only time I could keep it settled was when I looked down, so I concentrated on taking a lot of pictures of the ground. This photo is my favorite. It is a section of my home town, and when I enlarge it, I can actually pick out my house.
