When I was a child, we sang this song in school every November.
“Over the river and through the wood,
To Grandfather’s house we go;
The horse knows the way
To carry the sleigh
Through the white and drifted snow.

Trot fast, my dapple-gray!
Spring over the ground
Like a hunting hound!
For this is Thanksgiving Day.

Now Grandmother’s cap I spy!

Is the pudding done?

Can imagine this being sung by children with great gusto and anticipation of a fun family get together .
We use to sing this too when I was in school. Usually our school choir sang it almost every year. I miss hearing it. Thank you for the memories. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. 😉
