Lorraine is the challenger for this week’s Saturday Mix. She has offered three possibilities to stir up our writing egos. I was most drawn to the 25-word challenge based on the picture. But you may enjoy the other two as well. So if you like writing and want to stretch yourself a little, take a look at the details of the challenge here.
My story is below the picture.

FROM THE CELLAR
A twelve-year-old, I gaped at the twister roaring toward us, tossing houses and livestock like matchsticks. From the cellar, I watched my world change forever.

You’ve told a powerful story in just a few words. Well-done.
How scary tornadoes must be.
I’ve never been in one myself — thank God — but my grandparents and an uncle were in one that’s still talked about in history books because of its destructiveness. They were in a ditch beside their car and watched as a house with a woman inside was literally picked up and carried away.
Thanks for reading and commenting.
Wow — what an experience to draw upon. I’ve only been in a tornado situation once, and that was scary enough.
25 words, that’s some challenge but you made it – of course. I keep meaning to say I love your header!
Thanks. I do too. It’s one from my friend Terry Valley. In fact, I like it so well, I even decided to use it for the Daily Post challenge today. I don’t know WHY that man won’t establish a website where he exhibits his work. He just won’t listen to me. But he lets me use all of his creations for anything I want, so I like to let other people enjoy them when I can.
Sounds like a nice man. Tell him that there’s a bossy Brit here that thinks he should start his own blog as well!
I’ll do that.
