Coffee Thursday 3/23/17: Cinquain

You knew I’d have to do it: write cinquain on the subject of coffee. I’m running a little late getting my “Coffee Thursday” post up this week, but I’m a great believer in “better late than never.” So here we go. If you’d like to take part, post your version of celebrating coffee on your blog and bring your link over here. Just post it in a Comment window below.

COFFEE SHOP - MINE

LIFE’S ELIXIR

Coffee:
Life’s elixir.
The worlds most modest brew.
Yet holds the place most prominent
As drink.

Those who
Choose to abstain
Do not know what they miss.
For comfort and refreshing kick,
It’s bliss.

So come,
And share a cup.
Or maybe even two.
It warms the heart and bonds good friends –
Coffee.

    1. I’d have to say my favorite is a classic regular blend — moderate strength. Here in the States, Folger’s or Maxwell House are my standard choices. I do not like Starbucks, because most of theirs is too strong, bitter, and almost repugnant. It’s like they put something else in it, but I can’t figure out what. I’m not really big on flavored coffee, but once in a while I like a flavor — but usually mix it with a little regular. Most of all I want it fresh — meaning that it hasn’t been sitting on a hot coffee maker for hours. I can even handle drinking it the next day (after thoroughly heating it in the microwave) if it had the hot plate turned off within an hour after it was brewed. But if it has sat for 2 or 3 hours on that hot surface, I throw it out, because it’s terribly bitter and yucky. I guess I’m a little particular. My whole family agreed that my dad made the best coffee for many years. But then he started experimenting with some of the stronger brands, so after that I always said I made the best coffee of anyone in the family. It’s still true!

  1. My favorite is Nantucket Blend from Keurig. Out and about it Dunkin Donut’s regular. Can smell it brewing as I type. 🙂

Hey, don't you dare go away without leaving me a note!
